Helpful Guides

Kemsol strictly maintains high standards in compliancy, Health & Safety and chemical training. Part of this includes cooperating with MPI and keeping up-to-date with HSNO standards, as well as maintaining sustainable processes and systems for lessening environmental impact.

Here is a list of helpful guides to aid in understanding the Hazardous Goods classifications, MPI classifications and more.

Hazardous Substances Toolbox

MPI has created a Hazardous Substances Toolbox to help small, industrial workplaces safely manage their substances. This multi-media package contains helpful guidance on how you can identify and manage health risks.

It's really important that staff understand both the harm that can be caused by the hazardous substances they use and how they can protect themselves.

Approved Maintenance Compounds (Non-Dairy) Register

This database includes summary information on approved (non-dairy) maintenance compounds, listed by manufacturer. Great for checking the MPI Approval status of products.

The database should be read in conjunction with the remainder of the Approved Maintenance Compounds (Non-Dairy) Manual.

St John's First Aid Library

This First Aid Library provides all New Zealanders with a valuable practical guide to first aid for a range of common emergencies.

When used in conjunction with first aid training, it will assist anyone faced with a medical emergency.

MPI Approval Guidelines

Confused about MPI Approval codes and how they relate to and help maintain compliance in Food Safety?

Here is a complete guide to MPI Approval codes and what they mean. Note that not all codes are typically used for cleaning chemicals and will differ depending on the formulation.

Eco Choice Aotearoa

New Zealand’s most trusted multiple criteria environmental labelling programme is operated by The New Zealand Ecolabelling Trust, a not-for-profit organisation run on behalf of the Ministry for the Environment.

Eco Choice Aotearoa operates to stringent internationally recognised standards and principles.

Hazardous Substances Regulations

New rules for hazardous substances came into effect on 1 December 2017. Due to this, HSNO classifications were redefined and the regulations were reformed to reduce harm.

Find out what the new legal obligations are for hazardous substances in New Zealand, including EPA Notices and how they affect responsibilities.
